Asian hairstyles for girls highlight the beautiful colouring and silky texture of most Asian hair. Though many traditional Asian haircuts are long and straight, medium-length haircuts for Asian girls are also suitable for complementing the shape of the face and providing versatile styling options for special occasions. Though any haircut should reflect individual preferences and style, several medium-length cuts offer universal appeal for Asian women.

Bob style haircuts are well-suited for small faces with delicate features. Bobs frame the face without overpowering it with massive amounts of hair. Several variations on the bob are suitable for Asian women. A simple bob takes the hair to just below chin level. A stylist can then add a slight layer to the bottom of the hair so that the ends curl inward or outward; an even bob achieves the same inward or outward curl through later styling. Another common feature of the bob is accompanying fringe. If your hair is thicker, consider straight fringe that hit the top of the eyebrow in a single line. Thinner hair is better suited for sideswept fringe that fall across one side of the forehead on an off-centre part. For more dimension, add layers to the bob instead of cutting the hair to a single length. Layers cut so short will add wave and body to even the straightest Asian hair.

Layers add texture and body to any length of hair; additional texture is especially important for Asian hair, which tends to be straight. For a simple layered look, cut the back of the hair to about shoulder length and then angle the cut so that the front pieces fall around chin level. The stylist then uses a razor or sharp scissors to shorter layers of hair so that the sections on top are shorter than the sections beneath. For added volume, opt for chunky side fringe that extend from an off-centre part and add an arch to the front of the hairline. For an extra bit of edge, dye the ends of the hair a pale blond, burgundy, or even purple to add dimension and style.

Asymmetrical Fringe

Asymmetrical fringe style haircuts are ideal for Asian hair because they complement the lightness and delicacy of most Asian women's hair. Another way to imagine an asymmetrical fringe style is like a modified mullet. The top of the hair is cut short to about 2-3 inches, but the back of the hair is slightly longer. The stylist removes most of the hair's volume with a razor so that the back of the hair is long and wispy instead of clunky, like a true mullet. Leave short lengths of hair in front of and around the ears to add femininity to the style. This edgy cut is well-suited for experimenting with dye colours, as well.
