Erasing all of the stored information from the memory of your Acer laptop's hard drive is a necessary step prior to selling or disposing of the laptop, allowing you to keep your personal information out of the hands of strangers. Accomplish this by erasing the drive through the DOS user environment, a procedure which generally takes around ten minutes to complete.

Insert the boot disc into your Acer laptop.

Restart the laptop. Press any key when prompted to boot from the disc.

Type "format c:" (without quotes) and press "Enter."

Press "Y" to confirm.
