A styrofoam ball can be transformed into many different crafts and objects. One easy craft to make out of any size of styrofoam ball is a bat. You can make the bat as detailed or as simple as you want. The styrofoam ball becomes the body of the bat and you can add felt for wings, a tail and a face. This craft is simple enough for children to make and is a fun craft for Halloween or a rainy day. This craft will take about one hour to assemble and if you use craft glue it will have to dry overnight.

Things you need
- Styrofoam balls
- Black spray paint
- Black felt
- Red felt
- White felt
- Hot glue or craft glue
- Googly eyes
Paint the styrofoam ball with black spray paint. You may have to paint the ball with three or four coats of paint to hide all of the styrofoam. Allow the ball to dry overnight or for at least two hours.
Cut out two bat wings from felt. Make the wings as large or small as you wish. Make the top side of the wing smooth and the bottom side of the wing slightly jagged. The wings should be widest near the body and taper out to a point at the end.
Glue the wings to the sides of the ball. Cut a thin tail from felt and glue it to the back of the ball.
Cut a small red tongue from red felt and two small, white fangs from white felt. Glue two googly eyes to the front of the ball. Glue the fangs and tongue below the eyes to make the bat's face. Allow the ball to dry overnight before playing with it.
Tips and warnings
- If desired, you can poke a small hole into the bottom of the styrofoam ball. You can use the hole to stick the bat onto the top of a pencil or onto an antenna.
