The peacock hairstyle is an easy way to get your hair up off your shoulders. It works best on hair that is medium to medium long. Use a jaw clip, French twist comb or beak clip to hold the hair in place. Choose a hair clip that is suited for your hair type. They come in various sizes and shapes. Long hair will need a wider clip, whereas thin, shorter hair can get by with a smaller one. The clip should fit snugly to keep the hair in place.

Instructions

  1. 1

Brush your hair to remove tangles and gather it together at the nape of the neck, as if you were going to make a ponytail.

  2. 2

Twist the hair clockwise twice so it twists tight to the head.

  3. 3

Lift the ponytail up so it points to the sky and continue twisting until the entire length is a long coil, tight to the head.

  4. 4

Secure the coil with a jaw clip, high up on the back of the head but not past the crown.

  5. 5

Fan the extra hair that comes out over the top of the clip so it resembles the plumage of a peacock.

Tips and warnings

  • Use a dab of gel or other hairstyling product to keep your hair from slipping through the clip if you have straight, silky hair.
