Like most business phone systems, the phones manufactured by Mitel contain multiple features not found in traditional consumer phones. One feature available in Mitel phone systems is voicemail forwarding. After you set up a Mitel voicemail forward, when a call is not picked up the call automatically redirects to another extension instead of going to voicemail. The forwarding function can be turned off and reinstated at any time.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Press the key that appears near "Applications" on the display panel. Press the key next to "Call Forwarding," which appears in the options that display on the screen. Press the key near "New Profile," then press the key near "Edit Profile Name."

  2. 2

Enter a name for the profile by using the keypad that appears on the Mitel display panel. Make the profile name easy to remember, such as the name of the person to whose extension the calls will be forwarded. Press the button near "Save."

  3. 3

Touch the box on the display panel next to "No Answer Int" to forward calls that come from other employees in the office. Touch the box next to "No Answer Ext" to forward calls from people outside the office. If you select both options, all unanswered incoming calls will be forwarded.

  4. 4

Press the "Edit Number" button next to "No Answer Int" or "No Answer Ext" A box appears for you to enter the extension to which you want to forward calls and the keypad displays on the screen. Press the "Save" button after entering the number. You must do this separately for the "No Answer Int" setting and the "No Answer Ext" setting. After entering the numbers, press "Save" on the main screen to save the voicemail forward profile.

  5. 5

Activate the voicemail forward profile by pressing the "Applications" key, then the "Call Forwarding" key, then the key next to the name of the forwarding profile you created, and then press the key near "Activate." To cancel the voicemail forward, go to "Applications," "Call Forwarding," press the key near "None" and press the "Activate" key.
