There's no way to directly block a caller with the features available on the Nokia 6300 wireless phone, but there are alternatives. In the United States, the Nokia 6300 works with AT&T and T-Mobile phone service. If you subscribe to the parental control service offered by either of these providers, you can block calls to your Nokia 6300 with this service. Or, instead of directly blocking a caller, you can program the Nokia 6300 to have a silent ring for certain callers.
Go to the AT&T "Online Account Management" Web page (see the link in Resources) and log into your AT&T account.
Choose the individual member of your T-Mobile group whose settings you would like to modify.
Select "Blocked Numbers."
Enter the complete 10-digit phone number (beginning with the area code) of the number you would like to block in the "Add New" section.
Go to the T-Mobile website (see the link in Resources) and log into your My T-Mobile account.
Click "Family Allowances" under the "Management" option. Select "Allowed Numbers."
Choose the individual member of your T-Mobile group whose Family Allowance settings you would like to modify.
Enter the complete 10-digit phone number (beginning with the area code) of the number you would like to block in the "Never Allowed" column and click "OK." You can add up to 10 phone numbers to the phone's blocked list.
Turn on the Nokia 6300.
Use the phone's soft keys to select "Menu." Select "Contacts." Select "Names." Select "Add new contact." Enter the contact information for the phone number you would like to block and save the information to the phone's memory.
Open the phone's Menu. Select "Contacts." Select "Groups." Select "Add." Enter a name for the group you're creating, such as "Unwanted Calls," and select "OK."
Highlight the group name you just created and select "Options." Select "Details." Select "Group ringing tone." Select "Silent" from the open gallery and "Apply." You'll be taken back to the previous menu.
Select "Group members." Select "Add." Highlight the contact you just added in step 2 and use the phone's soft keys to choose "Select."
- To add AT&T's Smart Limits for Wireless service or T-Mobile's Family Allowance service to your wireless service plan, contact the customer service department. These services can be added to your plan for an additional monthly fee.
