Knowing how to manually adjust the IP address on your WorkCentre 232 is essential to keeping the machine running with all of its features in use. Without a correct IP address, features such as scan to network and printing will not work and result in error codes. Fortunately, changing the IP address can be done quickly through the menu on your Xerox WorkCentre.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Press the "Copy" button on the control panel. Press the "Access" or "Access A" button on the upper-left side of the control panel. This will bring up the Log-in screen on the display. Enter your password using the keypad and press "Enter" on the display to continue to the Pathway Options screen.

  2. 2

Select the tools menu by clicking on "Go to Tools." Select and click on "Connectivity and Network Setup." The machine will tell you it's gathering the information and will inform you a reboot will be necessary if anything in this section of the setting is changed.

  3. 3

Select the "Network Settings" option. Select "TCP/IP Options," then select the "TCP/IP-Line" Printer option. Select "Enable" to tell the machine you're using it as a printer, ensure that the port number is 515, and then select "Save."

  4. 4

Select "HTTP / IPP," then "Enable," and then "Save" to move on to the TCP/IP settings. Select "TCP/IP Settings," and then choose "Dynamic Addressing." Make sure this is set as "Disabled," so the machine will recognise you will be adding a static IP address, then click on "Save."

  5. 5

Select "Name / Address," and then select "Hostname." Enter the hostname, using the keyboard that popped up on the display screen, and then choose to "Save." The Hostname/Address screen will be displayed with four boxes displayed under the IP Address section.

Select the first box (will turn a dark grey colour), and, using the keypad numbers on the control panel, enter the first section of your IP address. Repeat this step until all sections of the IP address are added, and then click on "Save." Select the "Exit Tools" button to exit and have the machine automatically reboot and print a report showing your new settings.
