If you are looking for a unique design for your dark, long hair, why not try getting crochet braids? You do not need a professional hairstylist to do crochet braids on your hair. You can have the same hairstyle you see on African-American models by learning how to do your own crochet braids. Crochet braids also allow you to change your hair’s colour and match it with your everyday outfit. If you have short hair, you can still have long, flowing crochet braids by following these steps.

Instructions

  1. 1

Separate your hair by creating small equal sections and parting your hair from its front side to its back.

  2. 2

Create small French braids for each of the sections by picking up an inch section from the separated row. Add more hair from this row using each your braid’s knot.

  3. 3

Create cornrow braids on the whole head of hair from your forehead to your nape. Use a rubber band to secure every row of hair. This will create the plan for all your chosen styles.

  4. 4

Slide your crochet needle’s hook end right under your cornrow’s first braid. The cornrow that you will use is the one on your head’s left side while the hook is pointing upwards.

  5. 5

Get a small section of the packaged hair and fold it in half. Remain holding it to leave a loop right at its end.

  6. 6

Place your hair’s folded end around the crochet needle’s hook and pull your hair under the cornrow. Use your fingers to pull two loose ends of your packaged hair through the loop as you tighten it. The strand should be placed over the row’s top side and cover your natural braided hair.

  7. 7

Continue to crochet your hair down the cornrow while leaving small spaces in between each row until you cover your entire head.

  8. 8

Cut your hair to your desired style using your hair scissors. Most people pair their crochet braids with a Bob-style or layered look, along with long or one-length locks. Cut your packaged hair right at the crocheted loop with hair scissors to remove the added locks.
