No matter what type of computer you own or what you use it for, the basic input/output system, or BIOS, is a critical part of the picture. The BIOS is where the computer keeps track of everything from the size of the hard drive and the amount of memory to the current date and time and the speed of the network card. In some cases, resetting the BIOS on your Compaq TC4400 back to factory defaults can be a valuable troubleshooting and recovery tool, especially if recent changes to the system settings have left the laptop unusable.
