Put a little fun in someone's life with a jester hat made from paper. The hat is cheap and easy to make, and can be constructed to fit any size head. Simply adjust the length of the hatband and the amount of overlap of the paper triangles.
- Skill level:
Things you need
- Construction paper
- Assorted colours of copy paper
- Small bells, beads or pompons
Cut a 1½-inch strip of construction paper long enough to fit comfortably around the wearer's head, plus 1 inch for overlap. Glue to create a loop.
Cut five 8½-inch squares of copy paper. Fold each piece diagonally to create five triangles.
Overlap the triangles by slipping one folded piece inside the other. Adjust overlapped pieces as needed to go around the inside of the hatband. Glue in place.
Bring the inner triangles together to the centre. You may have to crumple the pieces slightly. Glue to hold. Place a decoration over the glue spot.
Cut a 3-to-5-inch slice down the centre of each triangle, beginning at the point. Fold points over at irregular angles. Glue a bead, pompon or jingle bell to each point.
