How to Recycle an Office Depot Toner Cartridge

Updated March 23, 2017

Toner cartridges are the large, powder-filled cartridges that you install in laser printers. Office Depot estimates that the average home laser printer will need a new toner cartridge several times a year. Throwing all those toner cartridges in a landfill will take up space and have potentially harmful effects on the environment. Office Depot has a comprehensive program for recycling ink and toner cartridges. If you sign up for the free Worklife Rewards program, you can also receive store credit for recycling.

  1. Insert your Office Depot toner cartridge in a plastic bag to avoid any leakage while you transport it.

  2. Take the toner cartridge to the customer service desk at an Office Depot and request to recycle the toner cartridge.

  3. Sign up for the free Worklife Rewards program to earn £1.30 in store credit per cartridge recycled--up to 20 cartridges per month. If you don't sign up for the program, you can still turn in the cartridge for recycling.
