How to retrieve sms messages on an unregistered SIM card

Updated March 23, 2017

No matter if your card is active or inactive, a SIM card reader and program can retrieve information from it. A SIM card reader can retrieve text messages, contacts and call logs--it even retrieves stored and deleted SMS messages. A SIM card reader is useful when you want to store information from the card on your computer.

  1. Install the SIM card reader software onto your computer from either the website, the disk you received, or an e-mail you received from the manufacturer.

  2. Insert the SIM card into the reader, then insert the reader into an open USB port on the computer.

  3. Wait for a message on your screen that indicates the device is ready to be used.

  4. Open the SIM card reader software.

  5. Select "SMS" from the left task pane and view the messages, both stored and deleted, in the main window of the program.

  6. Click the "Save" button at the top if you wish to save any messages to your computer.
