Hi, I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida, and people like to know about some home remedies to kill fruit flies inside the home. Well a couple of things home owners can do that don't require any products or chemicals, is to go ahead and making sure that you look at the fruit and vegetables that you pick up in the grocery store, making sure that the fruits and vegetables don't have any blemishes on them or don't have any rotting spots on them. If you've had fruits or vegetables you want to make sure that they are all in good shape and that they're not rotting or that you have any problems with them. Another thing is mold and mildew around a home. Remember, fruit flies need that wet moist environment in order to develop and breed within the house. So by eliminating those types of areas, you can eliminate a lot of these fruit flies in the home. Other types of methods that you can do for a home remedy, is making a sticky trap, such as the traps that we have here, you can actually do by using some good glue, real sticky material that does not dry very quickly and painting it on a yellow board. If you do that a lot of fruit flies are attracted to the bright colors, and when your fruit fly comes near it, it sticks to the trap and all you have to do is wait until the trap is loaded and you can take it and just drop it right in the garbage can. These are a couple of home remedies that you can try to get rid of fruit flies in your house. I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida, hoping you have a pest-free day.
