A homemade birthday card means so much. Sometimes a purchased card may not say everything you'd like to say, and lacks a personal touch. When you love someone and you want them to know how you feel, creating your own card with a handwritten sentiment will mean the world and be cherished for years. You don't have to be particularly artistic; just be sincere and heartfelt when creating a card for your girlfriend's birthday.

Skill level:

Things you need

  • Card stock

  1. 1

    Fold the card stock.

  2. 2

Find a favourite photo of you and your girlfriend together. Trim the photo so it will fit on the front of the card, or cut it into the shape of a heart.

  3. 3

Tape the photo to the front of the card using double-stick tape, and write a greeting on the front of the card. You can be funny and write something like "Happy 21st Birthday...again?" or be sentimental and write something like "Happy Birthday, beautiful." Use baby photos of each of you and write something like, "You were born to be loved by me."

  4. 4

Open the card and decorate the inside with markers, glitter and glue. Write a funny poem for her using some of your inside jokes and rhyming lines. Or just write a heartfelt message about how much she means to you and what you wish for her next year and your time together. Or you could use scrapbook paper and stickers to create fun embellishments.
