Occasionally, like all printers, a Kodak printer may not recognise that the ink cartridges still contain ink. If you have had the printer powered off or haven't used it for some time, the printer may not recognise that the ink cartridges contain ink since it has not had an ink level update. You can perform two tasks to reset the ink.

Press the "Power" button on the control panel to turn on your Kodak printer. If you already have the printer turned on, turn it off and turn it back on to restart it.

Press the "Home" button on the printer’s control panel to bring up the menu list.

Press the down facing arrow until you arrive at "Maintenance" and press the "OK" button on the control panel.

Press the down facing arrow until you arrive at "Check Ink Levels" and press the "OK" button. The printer’s display will show the ink levels that are in both the black and colour cartridges. This should reset the ink.

Open the printer’s access door that is located on the top of the printer. Wait for the ink cartridges to move over into the open area that is accessible to you.

Lift each ink cartridge at an upward angle, away from the printer, by pinching the latch on the top of the ink cartridge. Remove both the black and colour cartridge in the same manner.

  • Lift each ink cartridge at an upward angle, away from the printer, by pinching the latch on the top of the ink cartridge.

Insert the ink cartridge into place, back end first, in a downward direction, until you feel the cartridge click into place. If the printer indicated the ink levels in the cartridges were low, place new ink cartridges into the printer.

Watch the display for updates; the printer will manually align the ink cartridges once you insert them back into the printer and may print a test page. The printer should acknowledge the ink cartridges contain ink and reset the printer’s ink.

TIP

You can purchase an ink refill kit and refill the printer’s ink cartridges manually instead of purchasing new cartridges. The refill kits only take a few minutes, and the ink refill included with the kit usually includes enough ink for a few refills.
