The 2005 Volkswagen Golf TDI is a fuel-efficient German-engineered hatchback that is equipped with a TDI (Turbo Direct Injection) engine. When there is a problem with the engine, the service light will illuminate on the Golf's dashboard. The service light can be reset without going to a Volkswagen dealer or a mechanic by using a VAG service and airbag reset tool, which is available at auto parts stores.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Turn the Golf TDI's ignition off.

  2. 2

    Connect the VAG service and air bag reset tool to the diagnostic system, located at the Golf's bonnet release latch.

    Press the reset tool's "Select" button.

    Turn on the Golf's ignition, without starting the engine.

  5. 5

    Press the reset tool's "Enter" button and wait for ten seconds for the tool's lights to illuminate.

    Turn the ignition off.

  7. 7

    Pull and disperse the VAG service and air bag reset tool away from the Volkswagen Golf TDI's diagnostic system.
