How to Install Lame MP3 in MediaMonkey

In MediaMonkey, the LAME MP3 Encoder application extension allows you to convert CD tracks to MP3 files. The free version of MediaMonkey, however, limits you to a 30-day trial of the encoder. To continue ripping your favourite CDs in MP3 format, you can download a free version of LAME MP3 Encoder and manually install it in the program.

  1. Go to Codecs.com or Softpedia's website and download the LAME MP3 Encoder zip file.

  2. Check the box next to "Open with" and select "Windows Explorer." A list of files will appear on the screen.

  3. Locate and select the "lame_enc.dll" file, and then click the "Extract" button. You will be asked to select a destination folder.

  4. Click "Computer," and then click "Local Disk (C:)." Open the "Program Files" folder, and then select the "MediaMonkey" folder.

  5. Click the "Extract" button at the bottom of the screen.

  6. Select the "Copy and Replace" option.
