Instructions

  1. 1

Chill the cake in the refrigerator for one hour to make it easy to frost. Cover the cake with a basic layer of white icing using a spatula. Place in the refrigerator for one hour to let the icing set and firm up.

  2. 2

Place some pink frosting in an icing piping bag. If you don't have one, use a plastic sandwich bag and snip off one corner with scissors. Pipe a trim of pink frosting around the border edge of the cake.

  3. 3

Place dabs of frosting on the feet of a plastic My Little Pony toy from the toy store. Place the pony onto the centre of the cake. The frosting will act as glue to keep it in place.

  4. 4

Draw a small rainbow onto the upper left corner of the cake using tubed frosting from the grocery store.

  5. 5

Draw small blue clouds at the three remaining corners of the cake using blue tubed frosting.

  6. 6

Write a birthday message onto the cake using a small tube of gel frosting. Gel frosting is available at grocery stores and is easy to write on cakes with.

  7. 7

Place the cake in the refrigerator for one hour to let the cake set and become firm.

Tips and warnings

  • Use frosting in colours that your little one likes best.
  • Remove the pony toy from the cake before cutting and serving.
