How to braid hair across the forehead

Celebrities, models and actors display hairstyle trends on TV and in movies and magazines, but sometimes copying these trends seems impossible. The forehead braid is one of those trends, but copying it from the comfort of your own home is not only possible but relatively simple. By following a few basic steps, you can look like you just walked out of a ritzy salon, without having paid an absolute fortune.

Smooth any frizz in the hair using a styling product such as a mousse, so your hair will go where you need it to and stay where you put it.

Make an exaggerated part in your hair, either on the left or the right, whichever side you prefer.

Section off the fringe based on how thick you want the braid to be and brush them forward. To make the process easier, secure the rest of your hair back away from the sectioned-off fringe and your face.

Make three even sections from the bang hair, as if you were beginning a typical French braid.

Starting where your part line begins, braid the three strands together in a French braid style, constantly incorporating new strands of the fringe within each section as you move across the forehead toward the opposite ear.

Continue braiding the fringe in this manner until you reach your ear. Depending on how you are planning on styling the rest of your hair, you can continue the braid into the rest of your hair or simply secure it with a small twist tie or hair clip behind the ear.

For maximum hold and security, lightly spray the braid with a lightweight hairspray.


To create a clean and polished look, keep the braid neat and tight. To create an intentionally messy and harder look, using a fine-toothed comb and carefully pull some strands from the braid.
