All great lasagna dishes include cheeses along with the meat, pasta and tomato sauce. Add a ricotta cheese mixture to make your lasagna creamy and smooth. You can assemble the ricotta mixture in just a few minutes, while the lasagna pasta sheets are boiling.

Things you need

  • Ricotta cheese
  • Eggs
  • Italian spices
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Large, medium and small bowls
  • Wire whisk or fork
  • Parmesan cheese

  1. 1

Crack the eggs over a small bowl. Use a wire whisk or a fork to beat the eggs until they are frothy on the top.

  2. 2

Add the spices to the egg mixture. Beat them in with the whisk or fork. Put the egg mixture aside.

  3. 3

Dump the ricotta cheese in a large bowl. Break up the cheese using a spatula or wooden spoon. Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the ricotta. Mix the cheeses together with the spoon.

  4. 4

Sprinkle salt and pepper over the ricotta to taste. Pour the egg mixture over the cheeses. Mix them all together until the egg mixture is completely blended with the cheese mixture.

  5. 5

Layer the ricotta cheese mixture in the lasagna. Place a layer of lasagna sheets in the pan. Top the sheets with the ricotta mixture, followed by the meat sauce and then the mozzarella cheese. Continue to layer the ingredients until they are gone.

Tips and warnings

  • Substitute cottage cheese for ricotta as an alternative to the texture or taste of ricotta cheese.
