If you are hosting an evening bash, consider making it a glow-in-the-dark party for added excitement. Use black lights to make white and light-coloured items appear to "glow," and give each guest a glowing item to hold onto throughout the night. When sending out invitations, let your party guests know the theme, and ask them wear or bring items that will add to the festivities.

Black Lights, Invisible Ink Markers and White Decor

When planning a glow-in-the-dark party, consider replacing all regular lights with black lights, which will make white and light-coloured items appear to "glow." White streamers, balloons and other light-coloured items will stand out under black lights. Use an invisible marker (see resources below), which will be visible under a black light, to write messages such as "Happy Birthday" on decorations, shirts and wall hangings.

Glow-in-the-Dark Balloons

Glow-in-the-dark balloons will add to the eerie vibe of the bash. You can buy black balloons with glowing white stars, which a black light will also enhance. Other glow-in-the-dark balloons feature bat and skeleton designs for a spooky effect.

LED Dance Floor

Special events equipment companies rent LED-lighted tiles, which you can install in your basement or another room to create a illuminated dance floor. LED Party Floors (see resources below) offers tiles in a variety of colours and styles. The tiles feature a smooth, safe surface for dancing.

Glow Sticks

Glow sticks can "light up" your nighttime festivities. Hang the sticks from strings so that attendees can wear them around their necks throughout the party. The sticks are available in a variety of colours, such as green, yellow, orange and pink.

Glow-in-the-Dark Paint

Glow-in-the-dark paint, such as the kind from Glow Inc. (see resources) can enhance inexpensive, boring seating options. Splash the paint on acrylic chairs and tables, as well as wood items; the paint adheres to most surfaces and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Glow-in-the-Dark Star Appliques

Glow-in-the-dark moon and star appliques on the walls and ceiling will cast a romantic, celestial glow across the party space. For an outer-space theme, hang glowing planets from the ceiling with clear string.

Glow-in-the-Dark Jewelry

Plastic glow-in-the-dark jewellery, such as necklaces and bracelets, come in a variety of colours, such as red, green, yellow, pink, purple, orange and white. Ask guests to wear the jewellery to the party, or provide the items for them when they arrive.
