I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors, and today I'm going to show you how to properly install molding for a brick fireplace. For this job you are going to need a couple of tools. A caulking gun and concrete adhesive caulk. And I'm using bookends because they're heavy. You could use a book or a block and what they are going to be doing is holding the baseboard against the block so that way your caulk has time to set up. Now there's another way to do this with a trim gun. If you are using a trim gun you want to make sure that you actually shoot it into the floor underneath. Make sure that you have a wood floor underneath and you shoot it down into the floor. That way it will stay pressured against it long enough for the caulk to set up and that's it. But for this case we are just going to use the regular adhesive caulk. You take your concrete adhesive caulk and you apply about a half inch thick bead all the way down the backside about two thirds of the way up. Now what you are going to do is make sure that you get it in place. Firmly push the baseboard against the brick fireplace. Take your weights make sure that you get it nice and tight up against it. Now you are going to let this sit for several hours making sure that it's undisturbed that way the caulk has time to set up. After it's set up remove your bookends or weights and that's it.
