Some disadvantages of playgroups include not being able to trust the behavior of other kids, specifically the possibility of aggressive physical behavior. Weigh the disadvantages of playgroups against the benefits with tips from a day care owner in this free video on parenting and child care.
Hi, my name's Veronica Baragas with mywigglesandgiggles.com and I just want to share with you a little bit about disadvantages of playgroups. Personally I think playgroups are very beneficial and can be a lot of fun for both the parents and the child. The only few things that I can think of, of some disadvantages would be you know the interaction with other children. A lot of the times kids, depending on age and what area of development they're in, can use physical, you know, hitting, biting, pushing. Kids can be a little nasty at times, just because they're still learning how to socialize and interact with other kids. So, you know, some disadvantages would be that occasionally they may get a little hit on the shoulder or you know a little bite on the arm. But I wouldn't worry too much about any disadvantages of the playgroups, more so of just finding out, getting to know your playgroup a little bit more, maybe who's in it and things like that. But just do the research as any parent would do.
