Celebrities with strange deformities that proves they're just like us

Some of the world's most popular celebrities have small imperfections that most of the public are unaware of. When stars appear on the big screen, television series or the red carpet, they proudly display their impeccable figures. Fans around the world envy the perfection of their faces, bodies and hairstyles. However, in most of their appearances they cleverly conceal physical defects. In the list that follows you will discover some details that celebrities try to hide.

Joaquin Phoenix

The protagonist of films such as "I Walk the Line", "The Master" and "Hotel Rwanda", has a scar above his lip. Many articles and television programs claimed that it was a harelip, but a few years ago the actor chose to disprove that story by confessing that "it was a birthmark". The small physical defect did not stop Phoenix from building a successful career as an actor, music video director, film producer and musician. He is also a renowned social activist who helps many international organisations, for which he has been widely praised.

Megan Fox

Several of the most popular men's magazines have put this beautiful American actress and model on their covers. Her femme fatale image has largely eclipsed her acting career, and despite attempts to distance herself from the stereotype, she is considered one of the sexiest women in the industry. However, her body has a fairly rare condition, known as brachydactyly, a genetic malformation preventing the the normal growth of fingers. Due to this condition, her thumbs are shorter and wider at the tip.

Denzel Washington

The winner of an Oscar for best actor, Denzel Washington injured one of his hands in a childhood basketball game. After the injury did not completely heal, his finger was left twisted and remains deformed to this day. In some of the photos taken throughout his life, you can see his little finger sticking out at a 45° angle to the rest of his fingers. The imperfection did not stop him from developing a prestigious career, starring in great movies. In addition to the Oscar for best actor, Washington has received three other nominations in that category and won a Golden Globe for the leading role in "Hurricane".

Halle Berry

Halle Berry's case is one of the most unique in the list of celebrities with physical defects: the beautiful American actress has a small sixth toe on each foot. It's rare that you will find a photo with that part of her body exposed, because the Oscar winner, for her role in Monster's Ball, tries to hide this malformation when exposed to the Paparazzi's spotlight. Beside her excellent acting repertoire, Berry is considered one of the sexiest women on the planet. Perhaps she tries to hide her small malformation out of fear that her fans will no longer find her as attractive.

Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg is known worldwide for starring in action films such as "Planet of the Apes", "Shooter", and "Max Pane". Before becoming an actor, he was a model for top menswear labels, posing in underwear for Calvin Klein. Despite having a figure envied by many, he has a singular defect: he has three nipples. In many of the scenes he films with a bare chest, the irregularity is hidden with makeup. He has personally talked of this small defect in various television interviews.

Padma Lakshmi

The beautiful Indian actress, model and presenter, was involved in a serious car accident in 1984, suffering a large cut on her right arm that required an emergency operation. The wound caused by the collision left a scar which covers most of her elbow and almost reaches her shoulder (over 17cm long). That misfortune has not prevented her from developing a successful career in the United States. In 1999 she won an award for "Best First Recipe Book" and later was chosen to host one of the most popular programs at the time: "Top Chef" (which also won an Emmy for "Outstanding Reality-Competition Program" in 2010).

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner is one of the most loved celebrities in North America, due to her roles in television series and blockbuster movies. Unfortunately, not all of the stories about the actress are related to her acting qualities. Several programs about celebrities showed photographs revealing Garner has a certain foot defect: her little toe sits on top of the next two toes. On top of this defect, some show business journalists claim the actress always covers her ears with her hair, because apparently they are too large and resemble those of "Dumbo".

Ashton Kutcher

Millions of ladies around the world sigh when this hunk appears on screen. Endless lists published by magazines and television shows place him as one of the sexiest men on the the planet. But don't worry, even the most coveted celebrities have some kind of defect. Kutcher was born with a malformation in one of his feet, with two toes joined together. "It's more common than you would expect", replies the model, actor and producer, when asked about his special characteristic. In fact, in an interview for MTV in the U.K., he did not hesitate in taking off his socks to show his foot to the audience.

Paris Hilton

The eccentric heiress to the "Hilton" hotel fortune suffers from amblyopia, a condition that leaves one eye more closed than the other. Paris tries to hide this defect whenever she is photographed on the street or red carpet. Her high standard of living and non-stop exposure to the media, force her to maintain the image of being a sophisticated woman. However, this objective has been constantly interrupted by her constant problems with the law (she was arrested several times for driving over the alcohol limit).

Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova is a famous Czech model, known for working for "Victoria's Secret" and her various appearances on the cover of "Vogue". Her privileged physique led to her becoming one of the highest paid models in the world. Kurkova has a special characteristic: she has no navel. When the media discovered this, they started to print numerous reasons behind it. However, her representative defended the model, revealing that the malformation is due to "a childhood operation". Despite this abnormality, "she thanks God for being a healthy person".
