When decorating a neon bedroom, many items can be incorporated in the room to make it bright and glow. From neon lights to neon paint, use your imagination to create the perfect neon bedroom your friends will envy. A quick trip to your local retail and craft store will get all you need to make the brightest room in town.

Start with the bedroom walls, painting each wall in a different neon colour -- hot pink, neon green, bright yellow and neon orange. Paint the ceiling with glow-in-the-dark paint, which is available at most hardware stores. Glow-in-the-dark paint will make the other bright colours stand out.

Purchase basic curtain rods and paint them different shades of neon colours. Hang neon tabbed curtains from the curtain rods. Neon sheers are available online and make perfect tiebacks for the curtains. Bead curtains are available in neon colours and look great placed on top of the fabric curtains.

Find neon-coloured furniture online and at many furniture stores. You can also purchase used furniture at a garage sale and paint it yourself to save money. Paint the headboard hot pink and decorate with neon stickers. Paint a dresser bright green and paint each drawer and knobs a different neon colour. Add neon beanbags, chairs and couches in the room.

If budget allows, hire a neon light company to come in and put a neon light around the top of the bedroom. You can get the light in any colour you would like or mix the colours around the room. Other ideas include hanging neon signs, clocks and pictures on the walls. Shop for 1960s bedroom decor at local retail and thrift stores as this type of decor includes many neon items and accessories.

Use solid-neon-colour bedding, such as a neon pink comforter and bright green sheets. Put several neon-coloured throw pillows on the bed to accent all the neon colours in the room. If you have more than one pillow, use a different-coloured pillowcase for each one. Place neon throw blankets around the room on couches and chairs.
