Decorations

To bring your party theme to life, you must decorate with Tom and Jerry decorations. Find paper plates, cups, napkins, party hats and balloons emblazoned with Tom and Jerry's faces from online retailers such as buycostumes.com. Cover the walls with Tom and Jerry posters. Hang red, blue and yellow streams from the ceiling. Use Tom and Jerry plush toys and figures for table centrepieces; these decoration can also double as gifts for your child or prizes for the games at the party.

Food

Let your theme influence your party menu. Set out trays of cheese and crackers for kids and adults to snack on during the party. Turn sugar cookies and gelatin into cats and mice using cat and mouse cookie cutters. If you serve sandwiches, you can even use the cookie cutters on them. For the dessert, make the child's favourite cake then ice with red, blue and yellow fronting and top with small Tom and Jerry toys, or serve individual cupcakes with Tom and Jerry toppers instead.

Games and Activities

Every party needs games and activities. Turn a poster into a game of Pin the Tail on Tom or Jerry. Using a block of packaged cheese, play Hot Cheese, which has the same rules as Hot Potato. Give a game of tag a Tom and Jerry twist; designate one kid to be the cat while the rest are mice. Have the guests put their hands behind their back and hold a cheese eating contest. Transform the game Simon Says into a game of Tom and Jerry Say. Watch Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Goody Bags

Give out Tom and Jerry inspired goody bags to each guest. Use decorative paper or plastic bags and fill them with Tom and Jerry stickers, colouring pages, silly bands and a balloon. You can also find Tom and Jerry candy wrappers and labels from online retailers. This allows you to turn candy bars, suckers and other candy into Tom and Jerry candy that you can put in the goody bags. Using cat and mouse candy moulds, make chocolates or chocolate lollipops as party favours to go into your goody bags.
