How to Freeze Jamaican Beef Patties

Make a homemade frozen meal with a taste of the Caribbean. Jamaican beef patties are more similar to handheld meat pies or small calzones than they are to hamburger patties, but like hamburger patties, these freeze well and do not need to be thawed before heating. Recipes for Jamaican beef patties abound on the Internet, but they all include a pastry crust around a meaty filling.

  1. Prepare the patties according to your recipe, up to the point of glazing and baking.

  2. Wrap each individual patty tightly in cling film.

  3. Freeze the patties for up to three months.

  4. Preheat the oven to 204 degrees Celsius. Unwrap the frozen patties and place them on a baking tray.

  5. Brush the tops of the patties with the beaten egg using a pastry brush.

  6. Bake the frozen beef patties at 204 degrees Celsius for 35 to 40 minutes or until cooked through and golden.
