Cheap Ways to Make a Superhero Costume

Updated July 20, 2017

Comics, movies and television shows have made superheroes beyond popular. Adults and kids both have a great time acting out their heroic, super powered, magical dreams by dressing up as their favourite superhero for Halloween.

Decide on the colours that you want your costume to be. Look for household items that can be used to make your costume come to life. Using clothing that you already own and then adding to it makes for a cost effective costume. Set your budget anywhere between 10 to 15 dollars.

Boys and girls can wear leggings for costumes, these can act as tights for any superhero costume. An easy cape idea is to use a pillowcase, always around the house and if you don't have an extra one, they are relatively inexpensive to purchase. To attach the pillowcase punch holes in the top left and top right corner of the pillow case and feed a thick ribbon through it so it can be tied.To decorate the pillow case use fabric paint and paint your superhero emblem. If your superhero needs a mask or glasses, think of using seasonal gear that you already have. These items could include ski masks and swimming goggles. Don't forget the belts and gloves, if needed.

If you are wanting something more realistic, try painting your face with face paint, or using old newspaper to create those hero muscles. To do this crumple the newspaper and stuff it into the sleeves of the shirt, this gives your superhero a strong look. Wearing wigs are even a great way to get that superhero hairstyle.
