How to Store Fondant Decorations

Fondant icing can cover a whole cake to give it a smooth surface. Kneading the fondant gives it a soft and pliable texture that allows you to form it into shapes and decorations for cakes. People often avoid eating the decorations because they have a hard texture. Storing the fondant decorations properly, allows you to keep them indefinitely.

Place the fondant decorations onto a cake board dusted with cornstarch. Allow them to dry completely at room temperature. The drying time will vary, depending on the size of the decorations.

Place the fondant decorations into an airtight container. The decorations will feel dry to the touch, instead of soft and pliable.

Store the airtight container at room temperature.

Avoid refrigerating or freezing the fondant decorations, because it can alter the texture and ruin the appearance.
