Homemade Bowser costumes

Updated April 17, 2017

Bowser, a villain from the Super Mario series, sports a spiked turtle-like shell and a red tuft of hair. With a few items, a little sewing and some creativity, you can make your own Bowser costume and wow your friends at a party or get together. Save yourself money by creating a costume that will last for years.

Tie the red feathers and attach together with a hair clip. This will emulate Bowser's red tuft of hair on the top of his head.

Cut the cardboard into an oval shape that will exceed the size of your back. Paint this cardboard green and allow it to to dry.

Paint spikes on top of your green base using the black and white paint. Shade white paint with a drop of black paint for a darker base, and use purely white paint towards the top of the spike to create a three-dimensional effect.

Cut holes into your cardboard Bowser shell using your box cutter for elastic bands to pass through. These bands will go around your arms, so measure them for an adequate size.

Pass elastic bands through the holes and tie the bands securely closed.

Use the spiked bracelets to emulate the spiked strips of leather Bowser wears on his arms. Play with the location of various bracelets along your arms.

Wear the yellow trousers, as Bowser's legs are yellow in colour.

Put on your fangs to complete the Bowser look.
