How to Reset Canon MP480 Cartridges

Updated June 05, 2017

The Canon PIXMA MP480 is a colour inkjet printer, copier and scanner that uses a four-color ink system to produce documents and borderless photographs. If you refill the cartridges for the MP480 instead of replacing them, you may get an "Error E16" message on the printer's display screen, which means the printer still thinks the cartridges are empty. You can reset the cartridges and override the message with a few simple steps.

Disconnect the MP480's power source and USB connector.

Open the top scanner panel.

Press and hold the "Power" button while you reconnect the power source. Close the top panel and release your hold.
