Kodak is known for its easy-to-use and inexpensive cameras, printers, and printing materials. Still, with the rising cost of ink, many people are buying ink separately and refilling their own cartridges. This can in some cases void the warranty both on your cartridge and on your printer, so balance that against the cost of refills to make sure it's the right choice for you. Some Kodak cartridges cannot be refilled, so double-check the name of your cartridge against your refill kit to make sure it will work properly.

Purchase a refill kit for your Kodak ink cartridge. Some refill kits work for multiple cartridges, but make sure it mentions either your printer or cartridge on the label for best results.
Protect the surface you're working on with a cloth or newspaper, and wear plastic gloves. Put the cartridge right-side-up on the cloth.
Look at the instructions that came with the refill kit. If the cartridge has a lid that unscrews, twist it off. Otherwise, you'll need to burn a small hole with the tool that came in the kit. Plug it in and touch it to the part of the cartridge with the "K" in "Kodak." Hold it for a few seconds, and it will melt a hole through the plastic. Unplug the tool as soon as you're done with it.
Open the container from the refill kit with the colour of ink or toner powder for this particular cartridge. Screw on the funnel lid enclosed, or lower an enclosed syringe into the ink and pull up on the handle to fill the syringe. Lower the lid or syringe into the hole and fill the cartridge.
Cover the hole in the cartridge with one of the squares of aluminium tape in the refill kit.
Rinse the syringe or lid and repeat the steps for each colour of cartridge you want to refill.
Tips and warnings
- The refill kit will probably last for two or three uses, depending on its size. In the future, you can just order the bottles of ink instead of the entire kit.
