How to Find Out a Telephone Landline Number

Updated July 20, 2017

These days, a number of websites are dedicated to reverse telephone searching. Using a reverse lookup website, you can use a landline number to learn the owner's details, such as name and address. There also are ways to find out a particular telephone landline number, even if it isn't local.

Visit a reverse searching website such as AnyWho, Yellow Pages and White Pages (see Resources section.) On these websites, select the "Search by phone number" or "Reverse Search" option from the top of the search field. Then, type the telephone number along with the area code in the search field, and click the "Search" button. The desired details will be displayed on your screen.

Use a phone book to find out the telephone number. If the number isn't in your city, you can look for phone books of other areas in a public library.

Visit the website of a landline service provider such as AT&T or Verizon, and use online directory assistance to find the number. You can also call their help lines (for instance, 411) to request the information.
