Clean your wine glasses using a glass cleaner and paper towels.
Draw your desired etching design on a piece of clear contact paper. You can use any design you wish or just include a message such as "Happy 60th Birthday" and the birthday celebrator's name.
Use a craft knife or utility knife to cut the design out so you end up with a stencil.
Place the contact paper on your wine glass. Smooth the contact paper using your hands so there are no bubbles.
Using a paper towel, apply your etching cream to the cut-out area of the contact paper, directly on the glass. Apply a thick layer for best results.
Allow the etching cream to remain on the glass for approximately 20 minutes.
Place the glass under running cool water and allow the water to rinse away the cream.
Remove the contact paper and discard it. Rinse the glass a second time under cool water and dry it off.
Use chocolate bars that have a paper wrapper over the top of a foil wrapper. Take the commercial paper wrappers off the chocolate bars, but leave the foil wrappers on. Carefully open the paper wrapper and measure it with a ruler. Cut one piece of paper to match this measurement.
Wrap the piece of paper around your chocolate bar and crease it so you know where the front of the chocolate bar will be and where the paper overlaps in the back. Remove it from your chocolate bar.
Use a rubber stamp and ink pad to add a design, image or logo to the front of the wrapper. You can use any image you desire that reflects the birthday celebrator's personality. Use a stencil to write "Happy 60th Birthday" on the front of the wrapper around the stamped image. If you prefer not to use a stencil, you can free hand it.
Add nutritional details on the back of the chocolate bar. You can include a clever ingredients list, with ingredients such as "Wonderful woman, loving family."
Photocopy your finished wrapper using a colour copier. Cut the printed wrappers out and wrap them around your foil wrapped candy bars. Center the papers on the bars so the text and stamped image are on the front and the nutritional facts are on the back. Use a piece of tape to secure them in place.
Tips and warnings
- Use care when working with etching cream. It is an acid and can burn your skin. Wear rubber gloves when applying and removing the cream. Also, make sure the room in which you are using it is well ventilated.
