How to Open a Locked DVD Case Without Breaking it
(5 dvd cases image by Trevor Goodwin from Fotolia.com)

Certain types of DVD cases have small plastic locks on the end to keep them from opening up during transportation. If a case accidentally opens up, it is a possibility that the disc could fall out and become scratched or damaged in such a way that it will no longer play. You need to open the locks on a DVD case so that you do not break them, which would in turn break the case and make the locking mechanism useless.

Instructions

  1. 1

Locate the two locks along the side of your DVD case. One will be towards the top of the DVD case while the other will be towards the bottom. These locks will be on the side of the case opposite the spine.

  2. 2

Use your finger to pull up on one of the two locks on the side of the DVD case. This will open it up.

  3. 3

Use your finger to pull up on the second of the two locks on the side of the DVD case. This will open it up.

  4. 4

Use two of your fingers to pull open the DVD case. Now that the locks are opened, the case itself will open with no problems.
