Not long ago, finding someone's phone number in Britain might have meant a trip to the U.K. or one to a speciality library with overseas phone directories. Now, white pages listings on the Internet mean that you can find a phone number for someone in London, Glasgow, Belfast or Blackburn with just a few mouse clicks. If the phone book doesn't have the listing the need, you can use other online resources to find someone in the U.K.

Instructions

  1. 1

Visit 192.com, Britain's online telephone directory.

Unlike other British white pages, 192.com includes listings from additional sources, such as the U.K. electoral rolls.

  2. 2

Search for the person whose number you're seeking by entering his name in the "Name" field. Enter his address in the "Location" field, if known. You can enter a partial address, such as a city name, postcode or street name.

  3. 3

Click "Search" to display a list of results. The free results on 192.com include a person's name, address and telephone number. There is a fee to access premium results from sources other than the white pages, if the free listings don't have the information you're seeking.

Tips and warnings

  • Use the "Advanced Search" at 192.com to access additional search features, such as searching for the name of a housemate.
