Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to copy an internal hard drive to an external hard drive. I have here an external drive. I can get these at just about any computer parts store. And as you can see, the one that I have. Has a USB connection. I'm sure you've seen one of these before. Basically it's just a little square connection. That plugs into a USB port on your computer. So I'm going to plug this in, directly to my computer here. My computer will then recognize that, that drive has just been plugged in. And it will appear in the computer section. So I click on the Start button. I go to Computer. Once the computer recognizes that it has a new drive attached. That drive will appear in this list. So here is my removable disk. As I open this up, you'll see that it already has some files on it. But I want to add some more files to it. If I click on Start. And let's say, I want to copy my documents from my internal drive. Over to this external drive. I'd like, I'd like to name this drive as a back up. So I'm going to create a new folder. And just it Backup. Go into that. And now let's just grab some of these files. That I want to copy from my internal drive. Over to this external drive. I'm just going start with my one Note folder here. And copy that over. And let's say, I want to grab a couple more folders here. That I'd like to copy. And some files. Just grab them and just drag them over into that window. And release. And that copies those files over to the external drive. Just simply as though you were copying and pasting directly on to your internal drive. That's a good way to make a backup of your internal drive, as well. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to copy hard drive from internal to external.
