You will spend months planning every detail of your special day and the honeymoon that follows. Inject romance into your honeymoon night as well, with a little planning. Whether that night is in your own home or a hotel, you and your spouse can set the tone for the honeymoon by playing sensual games, choosing romantic music, filling the room with candles and flowers and citing the reasons why you love each other.
Pack a blindfold, which can be a scarf from your own wardrobe, and some sweet treats. You can also call ahead and arrange for the hotel to place the items in our room. Blindfold your mate and feed him various foods, asking him to guess what you are feeding him. Fruit dipped in chocolate is a popular choice. Switch places and let him feed you. Blindfold each other and touch each other's bodies with items such as silk, a feather or even your fingertips, and guess what the items are.
Bring along your favourite romantic CD (or your spouse's), or your MP3 player filled with romantic songs. Start the player after you enter the honeymoon suite or room. Let the music set the ambience as you settle in as a couple, and perhaps break into a spontaneous last dance of the evening. Play the music while playing sensual games, sipping champagne or cuddling together in the bed or on a balcony.
Arrange to gain entrance to the honeymoon night suite. Come armed with different shapes and sizes of candles. Use white pillar and taper candles in candle holders, or set different sized candles on decorative plates around the room. Light all of the candles when you first enter the room, or have the hotel staff light the candles before you arrive. A dinner together, sipping champagne or just talking with your spouse is all the more romantic with flickering candlelight as the background.
"Reasons I Love You"
Sit down during the days leading up to your honeymoon night and write down a list of all of the reasons why you love your spouse. Write or type it up on a sheet of decorative paper, so you can save it as a memento. While you are sipping champagne, listening to romantic music surround by candlelight, pull out the list and tell your spouse all of the reasons why you love her. If you choose, let her in on your idea ahead of time, so she can write her own list, and take turns reading to one another.
