Whether he is ridding on a broomstick while chasing the Golden Snitch or running after chocolate frogs in Honeyduke's, the world of Harry Potter is full of magic. If you are planning a party for a Harry Potter fan, creating your own themed invitations will help set the magical tone of the party. Creating your own invitations is inexpensive and requires just a little effort.

Parchment Scrolls

Create your invitations on parchment. You can find parchment paper at your local craft store or you can make your own. To make your own, use scissors to cut rounded edges on pieces of white paper. Then dip the paper into tea or coffee to brown it. Allow the paper to dry before you write on it. Once you have your parchment paper, write your invitation on it. Write the invitation like an acceptance letter to attend Hogwart's or create a map, like the Marauder's map, on the paper, including the party details around it. Use calligraphy or for a fun touch, purchase disappearing ink pens from your local craft store to write the invitation. Then include the decoder pen when you mail the invitations. Roll your finished invitations into a scroll and use candle wax to seal them closed or tie them with a ribbon.

Use heavy cardstock and cut it into different Harry Potter themed shapes. Cut shapes of cats, lighting bolts, owls, castles and wizard hats using a cookie cutter on card stock. Choose the colours of the four houses of Hogwarts when picking cardstock. Use red and gold for Gryffindor, yellow and black for Hufflepuff, blue and bronze for Ravenclaw and green and silver for Slytherin. Include some glitter in the house colours in the envelopes before mailing to add a fun effect when your guest opens it.

Daily Prophet

The Daily Prophet is the wizarding community's newspaper. Use it as an inspiration for your invitations. Using a word processing program, set up a newspaper layout. Include different short articles on the page about different wizarding activities, such as quiditch or the search for "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named". Include a lifestyle section and review a wizard party. Include all the party details in this section, including time, date and location. Print your newspapers out on parchment paper and mail them to your guests. Include a feather in the envelope to make it seem that owls delivered the papers.
