Rigs are as much a part of fishing as is a rod and reel. A rig allows any angler to present a baited hook to fish in different levels of water. A helicopter rig is an example of a specialised rig that was once used primarily by surf anglers. Over time, the helicopter rig was successfully adapted for use by carp anglers. Assembling the rig requires only a few materials.
