During the washing and drying process, little pieces of fabric and lint can come off the items and attach themselves to the other fabrics laundered at the time. These fuzzies are tiny bits of fibres and lint that will cling onto the sheets and other garments. The fuzzies can cause the sheets to appear dingy, dull and old. Since this problem occurs when you wash and dry the item, you can take several steps to prevent the fuzzies from developing on your sheets.
Clean the washing machine lint filter regularly. Every make and model of washer has its own set of instructions for cleaning the filter. Refer to your washer's instruction manual for more information.
Place the sheets flat on the bed as you normally would. Roll a lint roller over the sheets to remove the fuzzies. Alternatively, fold a piece of tape around your hand with the sticky side facing outward. Rub your tape-covered hand over the sheets to remove the fuzz balls and lint.
Launder the sheets in cold water on the gentle cycle. Add 1/4 cup of washing powder and 1 cup of white vinegar. Launder the sheets as you normally would. The vinegar will help prevent the fuzz balls from clinging to the sheets.
Clean the dryer lint trap after each use. Some lint traps are located inside the dryer while others are on top of the dryer.
