As one of several desktop media players currently available as an alternative to iTunes, MediaMonkey allows you to manage music, videos and other content on your iPod devices, including the iPod Touch. However, MediaMonkey doesn't come installed with all the drivers and other software components necessary to recognise the iPod Touch. Therefore, you must have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer if you want to use your iPod Touch in conjunction with MediaMonkey.

  1. 1

Download and install the latest version of iTunes on your computer. The software, which is available for free on Apple's website, contains software components necessary for any program on your computer, including MediaMonkey, to recognise the iPod Touch. You need not keep iTunes open while using the iPod Touch with MediaMonkey, but you must have the program downloaded and installed.

  2. 2

Connect the iPod Touch to the computer using the device's white USB cable. Close out of iTunes if it opens when you do this.

  3. 3

Launch MediaMonkey. Scroll down the program's left navigation bar and notice that the iPod Touch now appears listed under "My Computer."
