Any non-programmed TV, new or old, is worthless for watching TV. Programming an old Sony Triniton to work with your antenna input is necessary in order to get your TV to display your channels. The programming process does not require any tools and is completed by navigating the on-screen menu from the remote control. The entire process should not take more than a couple of minutes.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Turn on the TV and press the "Menu" button on the remote control. An on-screen menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the options. Highlight the "Channels" option from the menu and press the "Enter" button. A new menu appears.

  2. 2

Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the "Antenna Source" section of the menu. Press the right arrow button to change the Antenna source setting to the antenna type you are using. If you have an aerial antenna, select "Antenna", and if you are using a cable connection as an antenna, select "Cable."

  3. 3

Highlight the "Scan Channels" section and press the "Enter" button. The TV starts scanning channels based on the antenna source. This process takes a couple of minutes. When the scan is complete, the channels are programmed to your TV and are ready to be watched.
