How to Make a Thing One & Thing Two Costume

Updated November 21, 2016

Dr. Seuss has many creative characters and two favourites of many kids are Thing 1 and Thing 2. The characters appear in The Cat in The Hat children's book. Costumes for these characters can be made for boys, girls or adults. Make this inexpensive costume with a red shirt and white felt and accessories with a blue wig or temporary hair colour. In less than 10 minutes you can make this book come to life.

Cut two circles 8 inches in diameter out of the white felt.

Write "Thing 1" on one circle and "Thing 2" on the other. "Thing" should be placed in the top centre of the circle and the number in the middle centre of the circle.

Glue the white circle to the centre of the red shirt. Repeat for the other shirt.

Complete the outfit by wearing red trousers or leggings with the red shirt.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 red shirts
  • 2 white felt
