The inner sole (also referred to as the insole) is the material on the inside of a shoe that separates your foot from the leather that makes up the shoe's bottom. The insole is designed to add comfort to your shoe. Eventually you will need to replace this insole with a new unit that is not worn out. This requires measuring your existing insole to find out the size you need to buy.

Instructions

    Non-Removable Insole

  1. 1

Slide your tape measure into your shoe and place one end against the very tip of the shoe, located at the front.

  2. 2

Stretch your tape measure across your insole and rest the other end along the back of the shoe. The tape measure should be stretched in a straight line from the front of the shoe to the back. Write this inch measurement down.

  3. 3

Place your tape measure along the left side of your shoe, at the widest point across the insole, on the inside of the shoe. This point is where the ball of your foot rests inside the shoe. Stretch the tape measure across to the right side of the shoe. The tape measure should be stretched in a straight line from the left of the shoe to the right across the widest possible point. Write this inch measurement down to finish measuring your insole.

    Removable Insole

  1. 1

Use your hand to pull your insole out of your shoe (if applicable). Regular tennis shoes will allow you to pull the insole directly out of the shoe with no issues. Certain types of shoes will not allow you to pull out the insole.

  2. 2

Place your tape measure along the left side of your insole once removed, at the widest point across the insole. This point is where the ball of your foot rests. Stretch the tape measure across to the right side of the insole. The tape measure should be stretched in a straight line from the left of the shoe to the right across the widest possible point. Write this inch measurement down.

  3. 3

Place one end of your tape measure at the top part of your insole. Stretch your tape measure across your insole and rest the other end along the unit's back. The tape measure should be stretched in a straight line from the front of the insole to the back. Write this inch measurement down to finish measuring your insole.
