The Bissell 12 amp ProHeat 2X carpet cleaner will help keep your carpets clean without having to pay for a professional cleaning service. The basic technique is similar to vacuuming your floor, although it is more time consuming because you must move slowly and you may need to rinse some carpets to remove any residue leftover from the carpet cleaning formula. Before you start cleaning, Bissell recommends treating any heavily soiled spots with one of its pretreating formulas to help prevent stains.
Grasp the handle located on the top of the water tank and lift it straight up to remove the tank from the carpet cleaner.
Lift the latch located on the back of the water tank to release and remove the lid.
Fill the water tank to the fill line with hot tap water.
Place the lid back on the tank and secure the latch. Return the water tank to your Bissell carpet cleaner.
Locate the formula tank at the back of the carpet cleaner's base and lift the tank straight up to remove it.
Unscrew the cap on the formula tank and fill it with water to the lower fill line.
Add Bissell carpet cleaning formula to the formula tank until the level of water and formula reaches the top fill line.
Return the formula tank to the back of your Bissell Proheat carpet cleaner.
Set the dial on the back of your carpet cleaner to the desired setting. You can choose from heavy traffic, normal clean or light clean depending on how dirty your carpet is.
Plug the power cord into an electrical socket and set both buttons on the front of the machine to the on position. These buttons control the power and heating elements of the carpet cleaner. Let the cleaner warm up for one minute before you move on to the next step.
Press the trigger located underneath the carpet cleaner's handle and push the cleaner slowly forward and then back. Repeat this process until the entire floor is clean.
Remove the water and formula tanks from your Bissell ProHeat carpet cleaner when you are finished. Empty and rinse the tanks in clean water before returning them to the machine.
Vacuum your carpet before you clean it to remove excess dirt and dust. You can rinse your carpet after cleaning to remove any remaining formula. Empty your water and formula tanks and refill them with clean water then set the dial to water rinse. Repeat the cleaning process to rinse your carpet.
