A TV signal can be transferred from a cable box or satellite dish to a computer, providing that a video input device has been attached. There are a number of video input devices that also provide an application, or "app," that can be installed on an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad multimedia device. The app will allow the multimedia device to access the TV signal being received by the computer over the home network. The procedure is straightforward, if a bit involved, and will not damage the source providing the TV signal or the computer in any way.
