How to Display IP on Skype

Updated April 17, 2017

IP addresses are used to transfer information across the web and are an integral part of the Internet world. Your IP address can be used to locate your computer and disclose your identity. An IP address is also needed for many Internet services such as setting up firewalls. Lastly, IP addresses can be used to identify troublemakers within a community, such as a Skype user who may be harassing you. By displaying the IP addresses of your Skype contacts, you can easily see who is connected to your computer.

Open Skype.

Choose somebody to call or send them a file. Make sure this takes at least one minute so that you have time to identify the person's IP address.

Go to your computer's command prompt. You can do this by clicking on "Start Menu" > "All Programs" > "Accessories" > "Command Prompt."

When the command prompt opens type in "netsat --n" and hit "Enter." The IP addresses of whoever you are currently connected to via a call or file transfer will appear on the screen.
