Czech-based Avast manufactures an antivirus software. They make a free demo version. If you want to uninstall the demo version or uninstall a paid version of Avast to switch to another antivirus program (or go without one), there's a convenient way to do it that bypasses any type of password. Avast makes a free utility available for download. As with any uninstallation, take care not to accidentally delete other items from your computer.

Click on the link to download this free utility. It lets you remove Avast's antivirus program without needing to type in a program password or key.
Select "Start," then "Shut Down" to shut down your computer. Once it's shut down, depress the power button to turn it on, then hold down the F8 key. This restarts your computer in Safe Mode. Wait for the computer to power up in Safe Mode before continuing.
Double-click on the Uninstall Utility to open it. Browse your computer's hard drive for the folder where you installed Avast's antivirus. Avast warns that the contents of any file you choose will be deleted, so don't click on a file name unless you are certain Avast is inside.
Click "Remove" when you find the file folder containing Avast.
Restart your computer again. When it powers back on, Avast will be fully removed from your computer.
