Homemade Pellet Trap

A pellet trap is used to catch pellets fired from a pellet gun. The pellets exit the gun at a high speed and need a lot of force to stop them once they are airborne. You can build your own homemade pellet trap that will not only stop and retain your pellet shots. The trap will do it silently. You will need to go to a hardware store or firearm supply shop for the impact putty, but it is worth it for creating a high-quality trap.

Place the junction box with the cover on top of a sheet of Medium Density Fiber Board (MDFB) and trace the box with a pencil. Trace it along the edges that are touching the MDFB to get the most accurate shape.

Cut out the traced shape on the MDFB with a saw. Use a circular saw to get the lines as neat as possible.

Take the cover off of the junction box and slide the MDFB sheet inside. The wood should fit tightly inside the box and rest on the back.

Cut a block of impact putty with a utility knife so you can push the putty inside the junction box on top of the MDFB. The putty should touch the sides of the box all around it.

Add putty until the junction box is full. Make sure you can still put the cover on the box when adding the putty.

Stand the junction box on one end so the putty is facing you when you want to use it for practice. Put the cover on when you’re not using the box to protect the putty.

Tip

Use high-quality, solid-impact putty for the most effective trap.
